get a gravatar image

Have you seen how in some comment systems, some people who leave comments have a photo by their comment while others have a generic image?  Have you ever wondered how to get your own image?

Learn how to get your own image called a gravatar! It’s easy!

  1. Simply go to the registration page and enter your email address. You will get a confirmation in your email quickly to continue your setup.
  2. Go to your email account and click on the link provided in the gravatar email.
  3. You will be prompted to set up a password.
  4. Next you will see a page that lists what email addresses are attached to this account. You can add others if you like. Why are email addresses attached? Well, when you comment on blogs that use systems with Gravatar, you are first prompted to enter your email address. Your Gravatar will be pulled automatically if you enter an email address that is attached to your Gravatar account. gravatar website image

You will find that you will be able to have an image on many more website comments!  Many wordpress.org and wordpress.com blogs use gravatars. I use the Intense Debate comment system. You may choose to create an Intense Debate account and add an image, but if you have a gravatar, that image will be used in place of your Intense Debate image.
Thanks to Donna Perugini for pointing out one of the most important reasons for having a gravatar:  BRANDING!
Your gravatar is one more way to make your brand consistent across all platforms.  If you use the same image on all your social media profiles, you will be recognized moreso than if you have a different image for each. That consistency is vital in growing your brand (and in blogging, that brand is often YOU).
